Fire Ban in Effect - Update

Update: Chief Santorelli has provided an update to the fire ban status for Gillies Township. Effective Midnight (12:00 AM) on Friday May 15, 2026 the fire ban will be lifted. Extreme caution should continue to be taken and all burning rules strictly followed.

1. The municipal office will be closed for the holidays beginning Monday, December 22, 2025 and re-opening on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Canada's New Colour Coded Alerts

Environment and Climate Change Canada has launched colour-coded weather alerts to help Canadians quickly understand their level of risk during severe weather.
But, what do the colours mean?
Yellow: Hazardous Impacts moderate, localized, and/or short-term
Orange (most common): Severe, Impacts major and/or widespread
Red (uncommon): Very dangerous, Impacts extreme, extensive, and prolonged, or rare
